TUM International GmbH has ratified its final contracts with the Kuwait university operator Malakyia to set up a full-scale technical university in Kuwait until 2019. “TUM Kuwait” will meet all quality standards of Technische Universität München (TUM), one of the world’s leading technical universities, and offer a broad range of bachelor, master and PhD programs. Its innovation campus will become one of the most advanced technology transfer centers in the Gulf region.

A German delegation lead by TUM President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann assisted the signing ceremony. Kuwait’s Minister of Higher Education, His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Al-Fares, and the German Ambassador Karlfried Bergner hosted  the high-level event.

TUM International has set up a joint working team and project steering committee with Malakyia in order to jointly manage all stages of preparing, planning, constructing and initiating the university. The work of TUM International until 2019 will cover in particular support of planning and construction, the development of an academic agenda, the set-up of professional university management, operating a Foreign Recruitment Office for hiring academic staff and preparation of a technology transfer concept, including business plans for a business incubator and a business park (involving also foreign investors). From 2019, TUM International will co-operate the university, assure quality management and represent the university in Germany and Europe.
